Dustdevils Win Third Straight, Rout Ohio Valley

LAREDO, Texas (November 24, 2015) -- TAMIU Men's Basketball picked up their third consecutive victory Tuesday night, rolling D-II opponent Ohio Valley University 88-60 .  The Dustdevils stormed out to a 14-point lead in the first half and led by as many as 30 en route to the victory.

The Dustdevils' offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting over 50 percent for the third straight game going 32 of 59 (54 percent) against OVU.  TAMIU was also dominant on the boards, outrebounding the Scots 41-20 - the Dustdevils have out rebounded their opponents by 69 over the last three outings.

Senior Center Arkeem Joseph scored a game-high 20 points and added nine rebounds, falling just shy of his third double-double.  Jordan VanDeKop finished with 17 and a six assists while point guard Anthony Alston kicked in 14 points and five assists.

Over the first 20 minutes Alston, Joseph, and VanDeKop each scored in double digits and combined for 33 of the Dustdevils' 44 points in the first half.

Ohio Valley was able to trim the lead into single digits on several occassions early in the second half, but TAMIU's offense was too much for the Scots.  Denzel Bellot's 3-pointer with 13:22 reamining gave TAMIU a 16-point lead and the Dustdevils would pull away from there.

The Dustdevils will now take some time off for the Thanksgiving break meeting Eastern New Mexico (1-3) on December 2.  It will be the fourth of TAMIU's eight consecutive home games.
