TAMIU downs Eastern New Mexico, adds to winning streak while remaining undefeated at home

LAREDO, Texas (December 2, 2015) -- Consistency was key for the Dustdevils as they continued their undefeated at home record against Eastern New Mexico with a 88-70 victory on Wednesday night. TAMIU's defeat of the Lone Star Conference rival is the fourth consecutive win for the Dustdevils in the 2015-16 season. The Dustdevils are 3-0 all-time against the Greyhounds.

TAMIU matched evenly with the Greyhounds through the first 20 minutes of play, which resulted in a tie score (34-34) at half. The Senior core of the Dustdevils boosted the team, as Senior Center Arkeem Joseph tallied 22 of the 34 TAMIU points.

Late in the second half, scoring broke open for the Dustdevils, as they rallied to generate an 18-point lead over the Greyhounds. Senior Guard Anthony Alston sank two free throws as the seconds dwindled down to zero, sealing the Dustdevils win.

Head Coach Bryan Weakley recognized the efforts of his seniors by saying, "Our seniors led us tonight. They played like they should. They need to lead us every game. We got better tonight as a team but we are nowhere near to where we want to be. We have to have great effort and concentration everyday in practice if we want to reach our team goals."

All three seniors dominated TAMIU's statistics for the game.
Arkeem Joseph finished with a team-leading 30 points, while Anthony Alston finished second with 26 points. Senior Guard Deonnte Breedlove wrapped up the top three point scorers with 14 of his own.

The Dustdevils will practice in hopes of recording a season sweep over Southwestern Adventist, who will visit TAMIU for their second and final time on Saturday, December 5th at 7pm. TAMIU previously defeated SAU with a 90-69 when they visited on November 21st.

"Our biggest concentration for Southwest Adventist is to focus on us," said Weakley. "We will set specific goals for the game and be focused on achieving them.
