Dustdevils force double overtime in 0-1 Conference Championship loss

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas (November 7, 2015) -- The Texas A&M International Men's Soccer team capped off their 2015 campaign in the Heartland Conference Championship with a 0-1 double overtime loss against top seed St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon. The Hilltoppers' penalty kick in the 103rd minute of the contest was the only goal in the competition, following a foul on TAMIU.

The Dustdevils came into the Championship match with momentum from their win over second seed Newman (4-2 in PKs). Through all of regulation and one overtime, TAMIU held the Hilltoppers scoreless.

A change of pace came for the Dustdevils in the 75th minute, when Senior Angel Robles was flagged with a red card, causing TAMIU to play a man down through the rest of the competition. Despite the loss of a Dustdevil, Junior Ryan Hodgson generated a chance for TAMIU in the 83rd minute, that was just inches from the Hilltoppers' net, before being knocked away.

TAMIU will complete their 2015 season 4-3-1 in conference, allowing them to place 3rd in the Heartland Conference Tournament. They faced seed No. 2 Newman in semifinal action, taking the win after a 1-1 tie in penalty kicks, 4-2. The Dustdevils will look to return with improvements for 2016.
