TAMIU Volleyball takes down Rattlers in 5 sets on Senior Day

LAREDO, Texas (November 7, 2015) -- The Texas A&M International Volleyball (9-11, 8-6 HC) squad honored their seniors and picked up a 5 set win over St. Mary's (7-19, 4-10 HC) on Saturday afternoon. (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 16-25, 15-12)

The seniors honored, Madison Morris and Lizzie Prieto, stole the show on senior day, surpassing a majority of personal bests in the hard-fought win. Morris captured her first career double-double with 20 kills and 11 digs. Prieto notched a career-high 50 assists.

First set action was tossed back and forth between the Dustdevils and Rattlers. Then, at a 17-22 score, TAMIU took charge and tallied 8 of the next 9 points to seal the win, 25-23. The Dustdevils would experience a mirror-like situation in set two, as they used their momtentum to take the second set with an identical score of 25-23.

After the intermission, the Rattlers took control, giving TAMIU a run against their first two set wins. St. Mary's would take sets three and four after many Dustdevils service errors, with scores of 21-25 and 16-25, respectively.

In deciding set action, the Dustdevils would start with four straight points, setting the tone for the final set. TAMIU would continue with their lead, and despite the Rattlers catching back up, would hold on for the win, 15-12.

Up next, the Dustdevils will face Newman at home on Thursday, November 12th at 7pm. Follow along with www.GoDustdevils.com, on Facebook (/GoDustdevils) and with Twitter (@TAMIUAthletics and @TAMIUVB).
