TAMIU Basketball rings in 2016 by remaining perfect in Conference play

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (December 31, 2015) -- Texas A&M International Men's Basketball dominated the court with a 74-53 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night. The win continues TAMIU's undefeated Heartland Conference record (3-0), and pushes the Dustdevils to 8-3 overall.

TAMIU took charge early in the New Year's Eve showdown against the Eagles. The Dustdevils generated an initial lead over OCU, which was left in their sole possession. The Eagles were unable to match, nor tie, the score at any point within the 40 minutes of play.

Junior
Denzel Bellot led the Dustdevils with a 13 point performance, which included a perfect 3-3 effort from the line. Senior Anthony Alston contributed a double-double, generating 12 points and 10 rebounds. Seniors Arkeem Joseph and Deonnte Breedlove added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Head Coach Bryan Weakley praised the efforts of his team's victory by saying, "
I was pleased with our defensive effort tonight. I thought our guys competed for much of the game and followed our plan."

The Dustdevils will look forward to the start of the 2016 portion of their schedule. First up, TAMIU travels to Wichita, Kansas to face Heartland Conference foe Newman on Saturday, January 2nd. The action against the Jets will take place beginning at 3pm CST.
