Laredo, Texas - A big second half lifted Rogers State to a 76-59 win over Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon at TAMIU's Kinesiology & Convocation Building.
TAMIU (10-12, 5-9 Heartland) led 39-34 at halftime but the Dustdevils missed three of their first four field goal attempts in the second half, allowing Rogers State (15-7, 9-5) to tie the score 41-41 on a layup and free throw by Frederico Santos at the 16:15 mark.
The Hillcats continued the momentum from that point, taking a 10-point lead at the 10:37 mark and a 20-point lead at the 5:18 mark. RSU outscored TAMIU 42-20 in the second half.
Patrick Carlson finished with a team-high 14 points to go along with three rebounds for the Dustdevils. Montrice McKnight contributed 11 points and Jamie Farrie notched a team-high five rebounds.
TAMIU will play road games at UT-Permian Basin and St. Edward's next week before closing out the season with home games against St. Mary's, Oklahoma Panhandle State and Lubbock Christian.
