Dustdevils Fall To Permian Basin Saturday Afternoon

ODESSA, Texas –After winning the first two games of the series on Friday, the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils (12-12, 5-1 Heartland) fell to the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons (5-17, 1-4 Heartland) 2-3 in a relatively close game Saturday afternoon.
 
TAMIU and UTPB both had six hits along with two errors a piece, although the Falcons gained one more run than TAMIU to run away with the win.
 
In the bottom of the 1st, the Falcons were able to put one run up on the scoreboard on two hits and one Dustdevil error.
 
It wasn't until the top of the 3rd that TAMIU matched the one run to tie the game on one hit from sophomore Krissy Sardelich, and throwing errors by the Falcon defense.
 
TAMIU gained the lead in the top of the 5th as the Dustdevils accumulated three hits and one run on an RBI single to center field from sophomore Brittany Mussett.
 
The Falcons came back in the bottom of the 6th win two runs on two hits and one TAMIU error to take the 3-2 lead. TAMIU had a chance to answer in the top of the 7th, but had no luck as they recorded no hits and left one on base.
 
Sophomore Brenda Parnin went 2-3 on the afternoon with a triple. TAMIU's remaining hits came from junior Chelsea Capello, freshman Alyssa Acuna, Mussett and Sardelich.
 
Freshman pitcher, Delainy Thompson (3-6), recorded the loss for TAMIU, as she only allowed six hits, three runs, and struck out five.
 
TAMIU will head home to face Tarleton State Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader at Dustdevil Field, starting at 1 p.m.
