LAREDO, Texas (September 5, 2015) – Coming off a shut-out win to start their season, Texas A&M International University's Men's Soccer Team continued their season with a 3-4 loss to West Texas A&M on Saturday night. The second match of the season set the Dustdevils to a 1-1 record.

An early start by West Texas, scoring two quick goals within the first four minutes, left the Dustdevils behind by two goals early on. The both goals came from corner kicks that were eventually headed in past TAMIU's Antonio Romero.

Almost a minute after WT's second goal, Freshman Josiah Benjamin tallied his first NCAA goal with a rebounded shot from a free kick, to cut the lead in half. Abraham Lopez assisted Benjamin's goal.

Less than two minutes later, Junior Ryan Hodgson intercepted a pass at midfield and picked his target, evening the score for TAMIU at 2-2. All four goals scored had occured within the first seven minutes of play. Hodgson's second goal of the season gives him an average of one goal per game.

In the 20th minute, Freshman Edson Venegas went coast-to-coast to net his first NCAA goal. The shot came from just 8 yards out, beating WT's Satorie on the left side.

The 23rd minute offered a Penalty Kick opportunity to West Texas, which WT's Alex Cervantes capitalized on to tie the game. With chippy play, the half ended 3-3 TAMIU. A strong push by WT in the 46th minute gave them the go-ahead. Scoring remained at 3-4, in favor of WT, for the final.

The Dustdevils return to work on Thursday, September 10th when they host the pre-season polled No.1 team, St. Edward's, in Laredo. The game starts at 7:30pm at the TAMIU Soccer Complex. You can follow the live stat feed at www.godustdevils.com.
