TAMIU given single point loss by Eagles, 60-61

LAREDO, Texas (January 30, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team was given a single-point loss by Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils moved to 14-6 overall and 9-3 in Heartland Conference play.

The Dustdevils were met by the challenge of the Oklahoma Christian's offensive drives throughout the contest. Despite a consistent Eagles' lead, TAMIU drove to close the gap through the second half. With seconds remaining in the game, the Dustdevils brought themselves within a single point. The defensive efforts of the Eagles, along with two Dustdevils fouls, haulted TAMIU's final drives to the net. OCU's points at the line took a toll on TAMIU, resulting in the loss.

Senior Anthony Alston and Junior Arthur Santanna led the Dustdevils by contributing 13 points each. Both leaders also shot 100% from the line (6-6, 2-2). Junior Jake Eynon added 11 of his own.

The Dustdevils out-shot the Eagles from outside the arc, netting 43.8%, versus OCU's 42.9%. They also took the advantage at the line, capturing 69.2%, versus the Eagles' total 63.6%.

Up next, the Dustdevils will hit the road to take on Heartland Conference rival Arkansas Fort Smith. Tip off is set for Thursday, February 4th at 5:30pm.
