Hilltoppers deal Dustdevils Shutout in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas (October 27, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Soccer team kicked off the final week of regular season play on Thursday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-6 loss to St. Edward's, moving to 1-15-1 overall (1-11-1 HC).

The Dustdevils and Hilltoppers battled to a scoreless tie through 30 minutes of play. St. Edward's would break that tie in the 31st minute of play, taking a 1-0 advantage.

SEU would add a second goal in the 37th minute, putting TAMIU behind 0-2 through 45 minutes of play.

The Hilltoppers added four goals in the final 45 minutes to take the game 6-0.

TAMIU was stopped by the Hilltopper defense, firing just two shots. Cio Bargallo was responsible for the TAMIU shot on goal, one week after scoring three goals in two games.

Head Coach Felipe Arias commented after the game, "We found success in the first 30 minutes of the game and frustrated them. We even had a few clear chances to score. We broke down defensively in specific moments of the game due to lack of experience. The effort was there but not the ability to be consistent defensively throughout the game."

The Dustdevils will close out the regular season on Saturday, taking on Dallas Baptist. Play is set to begin in Dallas, Texas at 5 pm CST.
