Early goal downs TAMIU at home

LAREDO, Texas (October 8, 2016) -  The Texas A&M International University Women's Soccer team took on Heartland Conference opponent St. Mary's at home on Saturday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-1 loss, moving to 0-12 overall (0-8 HC).

An early goal from St. Mary's determined the final outcome of Saturday's game. The Rattlers pushed a shot just past Kiyana Lopez to go up 1-0 in the 22nd minute. 

The Dustdevils fired three shots before the Rattler goal but were held without a shot through the remainder of the first half.

TAMIU worked to tie the game in the final 45 minutes of play, putting three shots on net. Lopez saved all three Rattler shots on goal in the second half.

Cio Bargallo led the offensive charge for TAMIU, firing four shots, one on goal. Monica Castro and Tiandra Draggon each recorded a shot on goal in the second half

Lopez played all 90 minutes in net, picking up seven saves.

The Dustdevils are back in action Thursday, October 13. Thursday marks the annual Domestic Violence Game which benefits the Kristine Meza Foundation. TAMIU will face off against Lubbock Christian. Play is set to begin at 5 pm CST.
