Beede, Hunt pick up double-doubles in loss to UTPB

LAREDO, Texas (November 15, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team hosted UT-Permian Basin on Tuesday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 58-69 loss in the home opener. TAMIU moves to 0-3 overall.

Hannah Beede pushed her double-double streak to three games, picking up 13 rebounds and 21 points. Rosebrooke Hunt turned in her best performance of 2016 with 16 points and 10 rebounds. 

Through 20 minutes of play, Beede and Hunt had combined for 16 of the Dustdevils 20 points. Beede picked up eight boards in the first quarter. TAMIU faced a 12 point deficit at the end of the first half. 

The Dustdevils would rebound in the third, cutting the Falcon lead to eight. TAMIU used a 13-2 run to break back into the game, cutting the lead to two with 12 minutes remaining. Beede would lead all scorers in the second half, putting up 14 points, grabbing four more boards. Joanna Perez added nine points and a steal. Nayiri Aslanian finished with seven points and seven rebounds. 

TAMIU turned 16 Falcon turnovers into 14 points. The Dustdevils would score 24 points in the painted area, scoring 16 second chance points. 

Head Coach Jeff Caha commented after the game, "I really thought we played hard tonight. No doubt in my mind that we left everything we had out on the floor but in crucial moments we made mistakes which cost us the game."

The Dustdevils return to action on Saturday, November 19. TAMIU will host Angelo State, tip-off is set for 2pm CST.
