ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (November 25, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team opened play in the 2016 Eckerd College Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. TAMIU played host, Eckerd College in the first game, falling 42-84. The Dustdevils move to 0-6 on the season. 

After falling behind early, TAMIU battled back to bring Friday's game within eight points after a quarter of play. The Dustdevils were unable to control Eckerd in the second, allowing the Tritons to open a 21 point halftime lead. 

The second half would feature much of the same for the Dustdevils. The Tritons put up 25 points in the third quarter, while TAMIU could net just 11. TAMIU would play tighter defense in the final quarter, putting up a game high 13 points. 

Joanna Perez was the leading scorer for TAMIU, picking up 13 points. Hannah Beede put up 9 points and six rebounds. Rosebrooke Hunt picked up 10 rebounds and five points, while Jessica Alvarez added eight points and three assists. 

Head Coach Jeff Caha commented "It was our worst performance of the year. We refuse to learn and make strides and compete."

The Dustdevils close play in the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday with a matchup against The University of Tampa. Tip-off is ser for 12pm CST.
