Aslanian's career day not enough to defeat Bronchos

EDMOND, Oklahoma (December 5, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team took on the University of Central Oklahoma on Monday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 41-69 loss, moving to 0-8 overall. 

Nayiri Aslanian picked up a career high 15 points despite the Dustdevil loss. Aslanian added five rebounds on the night. 

The Dustdevils were dealt an early deficit, heading to the half trailing 14-40. TAMIU would come out strong in the second half, putting up 27 points in 20 minutes. The Dustdevils used an 11 point-third quarter to cut into the Broncho lead. UCO would outscore TAMIU 19-16 in the final 10 minutes, leading to the loss. 

Hannah Beede continued her strong season, putting up 10 points behind two three-point shots. Beede added a steal and seven rebounds. Joanna Perez contributed nine points, four assists, and two rebounds. Jessica Alvarez finished with seven points and five rebounds. 

Head Coach Jeff Caha commented after the game, "This is the best we have played for 40 minutes, We executed what we wanted to do, but when we made mistakes we didn't give up and put our heads down. We competed for 40 minutes. Every single player contributed with effort. I am really pleased with the team. Hopefully we figure it out as we head to our game against Texas A&M Kingsville on Saturday."

The Dustdevils return home on Saturday, December 10 for a matchup with Texas A&M Kingsville. Tip-off is set for 6pm CST in the TAMIU KCB.
