LAREDO, Texas (February 11, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team rallied to victory over Texas - Permian Basin on Thursday night, 79-66. The Dustdevils move to 10-5 in Heartland Conference standings, and 14-8 overall.
TAMIU took teamwork to a new level against a powerful Texas - Permian Basin squad. Finding themselves down by two at the conclusion of 20 minutes, the Dustdevils needed a new wave of energy for the second half. A strong final 20 minute effort by the Dustdevils developed a series of scoring plays to help them take the lead.
Junior
Kenny Hatch took hold of the reins for TAMIU, delivering 19 points and 6 rebounds. Senior
Arkeem Joseph followed the effort by collecting a double-double, scoring 16 points and notching 14 rebounds.
Head Coach
Bryan Weakley acknowledged the Dustdevils' effort by saying, "We played well in the second half. The encouraging and scary thing about our team is that we have individuals that aren't even close to reaching their max potential. Kenny (Hatch) and Arthur (Santanna) showed growth tonight."
The Dustdevils will have an opportunity to show their potential as they host the St. Edward's Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon in Laredo. Tip off is set for 3pm CST at the TAMIU KCB.
