SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 13, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team picked up two wins in San Antonio on Saturday. The Dustdevils won both games of a double header against Our Lady of the Lake. The Dustdevils move to 4-6 overall.
Game 1: Dustdevils 3, Saints 1TAMIU scored first in the ballgame, never allowing the Saints to get back into the game.
Alexander Cabezas drove in the first run of the game, before Jeffery Morgan recorded 2 RBI, scoring Cabezas. After three innings, TAMIU held a 3-0 advantage. OLLU would add a run in the bottom of the sixth, before being set down in order in the seventh.
Morgan led the way for TAMIU, going 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBI. Cabezas went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Erasmo Gonzalez Jr. went 2-3 at the plate.
Eduardo Rodriguez picked up is first collegiate win on the mound. Rodriguez pitched 5 innings, allowing just one (1) run on five (5) hits, striking out one (1).
Dylan Allen threw the final 2 innings, allowing just one (1) hit, striking out two (2).
Game 2: Dustdevils 3, Saints 0TAMIU found themselves wrapped up in a pitching duel in game two. Neither team managed to score a run, before the Dustdevils pushed three (3) runs across the plate in the eighth. Morgan continued his outstanding day, driving in 2 RBI for the first runs of the inning. Segio Pollorena followed that up with an RBI of his own, driving in Morgan. The Dustdevils set down the Saints in order to win the game 3-0.
Morgan finished 1-3 at the plate with 2 RBI and a run scored. Pollorena went 1-2 with an RBI.
Cody Perez recorded one (1) hit and one (1) run scored.
Nick Perales started the game for TAMIU, pitching four innings. Perales threw four (4) innings, allowing just four (4) hits, striking out four (4).
Nate Kowalik notched his first collegiate win, pitching four (4) shutout innings. Kowalik allowed just one (1) hit, recording six (6) strikeouts.
TAMIU will continue play on the road, February 19. The Dustdevils will take on Texas A&M Kingsville in a three game series. First pitch is set for 4 pm.
