LAREDO.Texas (February 13, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International Women's Basketball team hosted St. Edward's Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils lost the game 63-73. TAMIU is now 13-10 overall and 10-5 in the Heartland Conference.
Closing in on the Heartland Conference tournament, the Dustdevils battled to keep sole possesion of second place in the conference. TAMIU held a 28-27 lead at the half. The Dustdevils were faced with a 14 point deficit to start the final quarter of play, before outscoring the Hilltopper's in the final 10 minutes of play. Senior
Jessica Prieto left her mark at the KCB on Senior Day, scoring 35 points.

Keiona Mathews added 14 points, grabbing three (3) rebounds. Mathews was a perfect 9-9 from the line. Prieto complimented her 35 points with seven (7) rebounds, two (2) steals, and one (1) block.

Michelle Bento-Jackson commented after the game saying, "Very disappointing game. Our defense took a step backwards tonight as we allowed St. Edward's to do whatever they wanted.
Jessica Prieto had an unbelievable performance. We need to regroup and have a great week of practice."
The Dustdevils sank 20 of 23 shots from the free-throw line. TAMIU used seven (7) three point baskets, coupled with 22 points in the paint in their offensive attack.
The Dustdevils next game will be February 18 in San Antonio, Texas. TAMIU will take on St. Mary's, Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
