Dustdevils drop two despite Mora's outstanding day

KINGSVILLE, Texas (February 20, 2016) – The Teas A&M International University Baseball team was dealt two losses Saturday. The Dustdevils wrap up the weekend series with three (3) losses to A&M Kingsville. TAMIU is now 4-9 in the 2016 campaign.
 
Game 1: Dustdevils 3, Javelinas 4
Down three (3) runs heading into the ninth, William Mora sent a shot over the fence, tying the game at three (3). Erasmo Gonzalez Jr. and Alexander Cabezas scored on the home run. Kingsville pushed a run across the plate in the bottom of the inning, winning the game 4-3. The Dustdevils out hit the Javelinas 9-8 in the game.
 
Mora went 1-1 with three (3) RBI. Valadez and Eddie Rubalcaba went 2-5 at the plate. Eduardo Rodriguez got the start for TAMIU. Rodriguez threw 5.2 innings, allowing three (3) runs on six (6) hits. Rodriguez finished with three (3) strikeouts. Justin Diaz pitched 2.2 innings in relief for TAMIU. Diaz allowed one (1) run on just two (2) hits, striking out three (3).
 
Game 2: Dustdevils 3, Javelinas 8
TAMIU got things started in the top of the third inning. Cody Perez lined a single through the left side of the infield, scoring Cabezas. Following a Jeffrey Morgan single, Mora doubled to center. Morgan and Perez scored on Mora's double. The Dustdevils were held scoreless in the final four (4) innings, leading to the final score of 3-8.
 
Perez went 2-4 with an RBI and one (1) run scored. Morgan went 1-3 with a run scored. Mora finished the day with three (3) hits and five (5) RBI.
 
Dustin Labit started on the mound for the Dustdevils. Labit went four (4) innings, allowing four (4) runs on six (6) hits, striking out three (3). Nate Kowalik and Dylan Allen each threw one (1) inning of relief. Allen didn't allow a baserunner, striking out one (1).
 
TAMIU will continue play on the road, February 24. The Dustdevils will take on Houston Victoria. Wednesday's matchup will be a single game, first pitch is set for 5 pm.
