Box Score GOODWELL, Oklahoma (February 25, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team coasted to an 80-60 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday. With the win, TAMIU moves to 15-10 (12-5 HC).
The Dustdevils started the game hot, outscoring the Aggies 22-14 in the first quarter. TAMIU dominated the second quarter, dropping in 32 points, holding OPSU to just six (6). After scoring 54 points in the first 20, TAMIU put up 26 in the final two quarters.
Jessica Prieto led TAMIU in scoring with 23 points. Prieto dished out six (6) assists, grabbing four (4) rebounds.
Hannah Beede went 8-13 from the field for 21 points.
Keiona Mathews grabbed nine (9) rebounds, putting up 16 points.
Prieto added her name to another all-time statistic in the TAMIU record book. Prieto hit seven (7) three-point shots, tying the single game record.
The Dustdevils shot 42% from the field, grabbing 41 rebounds. TAMIU found the range from deep, sinking 15 three-point shots.
Head Coach
Michelle Bento-Jackson commented after the game saying, "There were definitely positives to take from the game. I was pleased with our intensity and energy in particular in the first half, however we have to sustain it for 40 minutes. We will refocus now as we have a big challenge on Saturday."
The Dustdevils close out regular season play against #1 Lubbock Christian on Saturday. TAMIU will travel to Lubbock, Texas. Tip-off is set for 12 pm.
