SAN ANGELO, Texas (February 7, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Softball team was dealt a 1-2 loss Sunday afternoon. The Dustdevils move to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the Geroge McCorkel Challenge.
The Dustdevils found themselves in all out pitchers duel Saturday against Adams State. TAMIU struck first in the third inning.
Brenda Parnin singled up the middle, scoring
Taylor Vines. The Grizzlies answered with a run in the bottom of the inning, knotting the score up at one. Neither team would score until extra innings. With the International tie-breaker in effect the Grizzlies pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth, leading to the final score of 2-1.
Vines went 2-4 at the plate, scoring the lone run for the Dustdevils. Parnin went 1-2 with an RBI.
Brandi Giles got the start for TAMIU, pitching 4.1 innings. Giles gave up just three (3) hits while striking out one (1).
Delainy Thompson pitched the final three (3) innings for the Dustdevils, allowing just two (2) hits. Thompson struck out two (2).
The Dustdevils conclude play in the George McCorkel Challenge Sunday afternoon. TAMIU will face the host, Angelo State. First pitch is set for 3:45 pm.
