LAREDO, Texas (April 23, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team closed out a three game series with Newman University on Saturday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 0-13 loss. The Dustdevils move to 16-26 overall and 7-14 in the Heartland Conference.
Newman struck first in the final game at Jorge Haynes Field in the 2016 season. The Jets put up four runs in the third inning. The Dustdevils looked to cut into the early lead before pitching shut down the TAMIU bats. Newman added one in the fifth and eight in the seventh, taking the game.
Eduardo Rodriguez got the start for the Dustdevils. Rodriguez threw 6.1 innings, racking up four strikeouts.
Nick Perales and
Justin Diaz combined in the relief effort. Diaz faced two batters, striking out both.
TAMIU host St. Edward's in the final home stand next weekend at Uni-trade Stadium. Friday features a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4 pm.
