Aggressive play drives Dustdevils against Rogers State

LAREDO, Texas (September 17, 2016) -- Offensive pushes produced 17 shots for TAMIU Women's Soccer on Saturday afternoon in a Heartland Conference matchup against Rogers State. Even with 7 shots on goal, the Dustdevils were halted by the Hillcats, facing a 0-1 loss. TAMIU moves to 0-6-0 overall and 0-3-0 in Heartland Conference play.

The first half concluded with a 0-0 score, showing full team efforts of both squads. Both goalkeepers, including TAMIU's Kiyana Lopez, recorded 3 saves during the first 45 minutes of action.

Second half play proved to be a battle, as the teams were faced with 106 degree heat on a sunny day in Laredo. As the contest went on, exhaustion became aggression, as both teams were sentenced with yellow and red cards. The only goal scored in the contest came from a RSU penalty kick in the 72nd minute, a result of a TAMIU yellow card.

Up next, TAMIU will take their first weekend-long Heartland Conference road trip. The Dustdevils start the trip by facing off against Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, September 22. Kickoff in Oklahoma City is set for 7pm CST.
