LAREDO, Texas (January 5, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team opens a three-game road trip that spans two weeks on Thursday night. The Dustdevils will take on Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City Thursday night at 5:30pm CST. 

Last Contest:
The Dustdevils fell to 1-12 overall (1-2 Heartland Conference) after a 53-72 loss to Lubbock Christian in their last matchup. Joanna Perez finished with 16 points and three assists. Hannah Beede added 13 points on eight rebounds. TAMIU finished the game shooting 80% from the free-throw line. Beede currently sits fifth in the conference, averaging 14.5 points per game. Beede and Hunt also rank second in rebounds with 9.2 per game. 

The Competition:
The Eagles (7-8 Overall/2-1 Heartland Conference) were dealt a loss in their previous matchup, falling 56-65 to St. Edward's. The Eagles were led by McKenzie Stafford who finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. OC currently leads the Heartland Conference in scoring, averaging 74 points per game. The Eagles also rank as the top team at the stripe, shooting 75% on free-throws. 

Heartland Conference:
Despite a 1-12 start, the Dustdevils currently sit sixth in the Heartland Conference after picking up a Heartland win over Rogers State. Oklahoma Christian currently holds the fourth spot with a 2-1 Heartland Conference record. Six Heartland Conference teams are in action tonight. 

History:
The Dustdevils and Eagles split their matchups in the 2015-16 season with each team winning at home. OC took their home contest 82-78 while TAMIU won an overtime thriller 66-57. The teams have matched up 6 times in three years with TAMIU currently leading the all-time series 4-2.
