ODESSA, Texas (October 14, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University men's soccer team were unable to capitalize on 17 shots as they fell 2-0 to UT Permain Basin on Saturday afternoon. In the loss the Dustdevils drops to 6-4-2 and 5-4-1 in Heartland Conference play while UTPB improves to 6-6-1 (5-5-0 HC).
The Dustdevils outshot UTBP 17-14 with 11 of those shot coming in the final 45 minutes as they were shutout for the second time in three matches.
Rafael Montabes once again paced the offense as the junior tied a career-high with six shots while
Alan Rivera had three of his own.
Josh Jones (1-2-0) made five saves on 14 shots in his third career start.
The Falcons went ahead 1-0 in the 22
nd minute as Stefan Faria got on the end of a save from Jones before adding another in the 52
nd as Michael Nweke scored off a throw in.
The Dustdevils begin their four-match home stand to end the season with Rogers State on Thursday, Oct. 19, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m.
