LAREDO, Texas (October 21, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University women's soccer team allowed four unanswered goals in a 4-1 defeat to Newman on Saturday afternoon at Dustdevil Soccer Field. The loss drops the Dustdevils to 3-10-1 and 2-9-1 in Heartland Conference play while the Jets improve to 9-5-2 (6-4-2).

TAMIU was outshot 24-5 including 14-2 in the second half.
Cio Bargallo had a team-high two shots scoring her conference-leading 16
th goal of the season while Aurey Hall (3-8-2) made seven saves in the loss.

Bargallo put the Dustdevils up 1-0 in the 11
th minute after a long ball from the backline found her one-on-one with the keeper. She chipped the keeper but it was cleared off the line by Rachel Vanbuskirk before the sophomore got the rebound far enough across the line for her 16
th of the season. The Jets tied the match at 1-1 in the 36
th minute as Sheree Molina got on the end of Emma Barnett's cross from the left side into the box.

The second half belonged the Jets as they took a 2-1 lead less than a minute into the final 45 minutes as Lexi Clark ran through the Dustdevil defense before finding Vanessa Ortiz in front of goal. NU added another in the 57
th minute with Colleen Howland getting on the score sheet.

Susanna Abrahamsson recorded the Dustdevils first shot of the second half in the 63
rd minute on a long free kick forcing a save from Ashley Sweetnam. Bargallo recorded her second shot of the match in the 79
th but it went just wide of goal. The Jets added a fourth in the 82
nd minute as Karen Tamayo got on the end of a cross form Katie Crouse.

The Dustdevils will host St. Edward's and Dallas Baptist next week to finish the 2017 regular season.Â
