Box Score CANYON, Texas (November 24, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University opened play in the 2017 Pak-A-Sak WT Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. TAMIU opened the tournament against host, and the nations #5 team in West Texas A&M. The Dustdevils fell 63-89 and move to 0-6 on the season.
AFTER 1: TAMIU 13 - #5 WEST TEXAS A&M 25
The Lady Buffs would open the game with an early 5-0 run before TAMIU would come back to stay within five for four minutes. The Lady Buff offense would explode for 25 points and keep the Dustdevils from coming within five points through the remainder of the quarter.
AFTER 2: TAMIU 26 - #5 WEST TEXAS A&M 40
TAMIU would cut the 12-point deficit to nine at it's smallest margin in the second quarter before the Lady Buffs added two. After 20 minutes of play, TAMIU trailed 14.
AFTER 3: TAMIU 49 - #5 WEST TEXAS A&M 65
The Dustdevils would come out of the break with their best offensive quarter of the game, putting up 24 points on the Lady Buffs. WT would respond with their best quarter of the game, putting up 25, extending their lead to 16 after 30 minutes.
AFTER 4: TAMIU 63 - #5 WEST TEXAS A&M 89
The Lady Buffs would hold the Dustdevils at bay in the final quarter of action, extending their lead, taking the game 89-63.
FINAL STATS:
Sophomore Jaden Gonzales led the Dustdevils in scoring, putting up a team-high 17. Gonzales went 5-7 from behind the arc, adding two steals. Tantashea Giger added 13 points in the loss.

COACH CAHA'S THOUGHTS:
Head Coach
Jeff Caha commented, "I thought we had a good game plan going into the game and unfortunately we didn't execute well enough to get a win. Offensively I thought we really grew today and our guards got a whole let better. We attacked and made the extra pass all night. Hopefully we can put it all together tomorrow against Eastern New Mexico."
