LAREDO, Texas (November 4, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team took on Heartland Conference leader, Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils fell 0-3.
The 0-3 (11-25, 12-25, 18-25) loss moves the Dustdevils to 2-23 overall with a 0-11 Heartland Conference mark.
SET 1: TAMIU 11 - UAFS 25
The Dustdevils would start the afternoon with a 5-1 run, putting up an early lead on the Lady Lions. Five straight points from UAFS would move the set into the Lady Lions favor at 7-5. UAFS would not return the lead and used an 11 point run to put the first set out of reach.
SET 2: TAMIU 12 - UAFS 25
The Lady Lions would pick up the hot start in the second set with a 12-1 record to open an early 11 point lead. TAMIU would bring the set within nine points before the set point was recorded.
SET 3: TAMIU 18 - UAFS 25
The Dustdevils would hold the Lady Lions in check after playing neck and neck, UAFS picked up a lead but the Dustdevils never let the lead reach five points. A late push from the Lady Lions allowed them to pick up a seven point advantage en-route to a 3-0 win.
Saturday's match marks the end of the season series between TAMIU and UAFS with the Lady Lions claiming the 2-0 series win.

The Dustdevils remain at home for the final regular season game which will take place on Thursday, November 9. Thursday's match marks the conclusion of the TAMIU Alumni Association raffle and winners will be drawn during the 10 minute intermission between the second and third sets.
