SAN ANGELO, Texas (December 30, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball closed out 2017 and their non-conference schedule at Angelo State on Saturday. TAMIU was dealt a 50-74 loss, moving to 2-13 overall.
AFTER 1: TAMIU 13 - ASU 26
The Dustdevils would find themselves behind early after the Rambelles opened the game with a 26-point first quarter. ASU would hold the Dustdevils below 15 points, allowing for a 13 point lead after 10 minutes of action.
AT THE HALF: TAMIU 21 - ASU 42
The Dustdevils would find themselves down by double-digits at the half after being outscored by eight in the second quarter. TAMIU would put up just eight points while ASU would add another 16, pushing their 13 point lead to 21 after 20 minutes.
AFTER 3: TAMIU 40 - ASU 60
TAMIU would play their best offensive quarter in the third, putting up 19 points after the break. The 19 point performance was coupled with a defensive effort that held the Rambelles to 18, cutting the lead to 20 through 30 minutes.
FINAL: TAMIU 50 - ASU 74
The fourth quarter would prove to tie the second as the lowest scoring quarter of the game as the teams combined for 24 points. The Dustdevils would come up on the short end of a 14-10 final quarter, leading to a 24-point loss on the road.
STAT LEADERS:
Tantashea Giger (10) and
Passionate Amukamara (20) combined for 30 of the teams 50 points on Saturday.
UP NEXT:
The Dustdevils have concluded play against non-conference opponents but not play on the road. TAMIU returns to action on Thursday, January 4 as the Dustdevils take on Lubbock Christian in Lubbock, Texas at 5:30pm.
