LAREDO, Texas (February 18, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team played its final home game of the 2016-17 season on Saturday. TAMIU was dealt a 46-86 loss, falling to 2-22 overall (2-12 Heartland Conference).
The Dustdevils fell behind early in Saturday's game as STMU jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage, outscoring the Dustdevils 19-10 in the first quarter.
St. Mary's would extend their lead to 27 after 20 minutes of action, outscoring the Dustdevils 20-2 in the second quarter.
TAMIU would be outscored by 18 in the third before putting up a game high 21 points in the final quarter, outscoring the Rattlers 21-16.
Hannah Beede put up a team high 12 points while
Joanna Perez and
Rosebrooke Hunt scored 11 each.

Jeff Caha commented after the game, "I am disappointed with our effort overall. Once we got down 10 I thought we didn't fight too hard to stop the bleeding. We have an opportunity to go win two this week and clinch the seventh seed so I hope we are prepared and ready to go."

The Dustdevils travel to Goodwell, Oklahoma for their next matchup. TAMIU will take on Oklahoma Panhandle State on February 23. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
