LAREDO, Texas (March 18, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team hosted Rogers State in the third game of a weekend series on Saturday. The Dustdevils picked up an 8-6 win, moving to 6-15 overall (1-5 Heartland Conference).
TAMIU used runs in each of the final four innings to defeat Rogers State 8-6.
RSU would take an early 2-0 lead in the first before TAMIU plated a run in the bottom of the inning, bringing the game back within a run. Alex Cabezas scored after
Jeremy Valadez grounded out to short.
The Hillcats picked up a third run in the fourth, pushing the lead back to two.
The Dustdevils took their first lead of the game in the fifth. A Cabezas single would score
Ricky Gonzalez, making it a 2-3 ballgame.
William Mora followed with an RBI single, scoring Cabezas from second.
Alex Medina would put TAMIU ahead 4-3 with a third RBI single.
Cabezas and Matthew Trevino each picked up an RBI single in the sixth, putting the Dustdevils ahead 6-3.
A Hillcat homerun brought the game to 6-4 in favor of TAMIU before
Adrian Castillo pushed the lead back to four. Castillo drove in
Sergio Pollorena on an RBI double to left.
RSU would pick up two runs in the eighth on a two-run homerun, bringing the Hillcats within a run. Trevino picked up his second RBI of the day in the eighth, giving TAMIU an 8-6 lead.
Nick Perales came into close the game for TAMIU, tossing a scoreless ninth. Perales picked up his first save of the season.
Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his first win of the season, tossing six innings. Rodriguez tallied six strikeouts.
Jorge Gonzalez tossed two innings in relief, striking out a pair.

The Dustdevils are off until next Friday, March 24. TAMIU takes on Oklahoma Christian. First pitch from Oklahoma City is set for 1pm.
