Eagles deal TAMIU loss in series finale

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (March 25, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team took on Oklahoma Christian in the final game of a weekend series on Saturday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 3-7 loss, falling to 6-18 overall (1-8 Heartland Conference). 

TAMIU pulled ahead of Oklahoma Christian in the series finale, plating a run in the fourth inning. Jeremy Valadez drove home Alex Cabezas on an RBI single down the left field line. 

The Eagles would respond with a pair of runs in the fifth, taking a 2-1 lead. 

Valadez would even the game in the sixth with his second RBI of the game. Valadez drove in Cabezas for the second time on an RBI single to center. 

The Eagles responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the sixth, taking back the one run advantage. Oklahoma Christian added two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth, taking a 7-2 lead. 

Sergio Pollorena brought TAMIU within four in ninth, driving in Alex Medina.

Eddie Rodriguez got the nod on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs. Rodriguez struck out seven Eagles in his performance. Erick Garay tossed two and a thirds on the mound before being relived by Coleman Butler in the eighth.

The Dustdevils play their next game in Austin, Texas on Tuesday, March 28. First pitch is set for 2pm.
