LAREDO, Texas (March 31, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team opened a five game home stand against Lubbock Christian on Friday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-14 loss in game one and a 4-6 loss in game two. The Dustdevils move to 6-20 overall (1-10 Heartland Conference).
After being shut down in game one, the Dustdevil bats came alive in game two.
After a 14 run outburst in game one, the Dustdevils held the Chaps in check to start game two. The teams played four complete innings without a run before LCU plated three runs in the fifth.
TAMIU responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
William Mora drove in Alex Cabezas on an RBI single, bringing the Dustdevils within two runs.
The Dustdevils would tie the game at three in the seventh inning.
Jeremy Valadez drove in Cabezas on an RBI single through the left side to bring TAMIU within a run of the tie. Mora would drive in his second run of the day with a game-tying RBI single, driving home
Abel Aguilar.
The Chaps plated three runs in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead with just an inning and a half remaining.
Mathew Trevino brought TAMIU within two runs of a second tie in the ninth. Trevino drove in Aguilar, bringing the game to 4-6.
Osvaldo Raya got the nod in game two, tossing seven and a third on the mound. Raya struck out 11 Chaps.
Jorge Gonzalez tossed a scoreless inning and two thirds in relief.

The Dustdevils close out the three game set on Saturday at Jorge Haynes Field. First pitch is slated for 1pm.
