Dustdevils drop a pair to #7 Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas (April 14, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team opened a three game series with #7 Angelo State on Friday. The Dustdevils fell 0-6 in game one and 3-10 in game two, moving to 10-23 overall.
 
Game 1: TAMIU 0 – ASU 6
Game one saw the Dustdevils fall behind in the first after the Rams plated a first inning run. Angelo State would plate a second run in the second inning, opening an early 2-0 lead.
 
The Dustdevils would hold the Rams scoreless over the next four innings before ASU picked up four runs in the sixth inning, stretching the lead to six.
 
The Rams pitching staff held the Dustdevils to three hits, making just one error in the field.
 
Devon Torres took the loss on the mound, tossing six innings.
 
Game 2: TAMIU 3 – ASU 10
The Rams would strike first again in game two, driving home five runs in the first four innings.
 
The Dustdevil bats came alive late in game two, allowing TAMIU to bring home a run in the sixth. Will Mora put up the first Dustdevil run on the power of his sixth homerun.
 
The Rams picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, pushing the lead to 7-1.
 
Adrian Castillo would bring TAMIU back into the game in the seventh inning. Castillo picked up his first homerun in a Dustdevil uniform, bringing home Osvaldo Rosas. The homerun cut the lead to four.
 
ASU added a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to push the lead to seven before the Dustdevils were retired in the ninth.
 
Osvaldo Raya took the loss, tossing five innings. Raya picked up six strikeouts. Jorge Gonzalez, Erick Garay, and Coleman Butler each tossed an inning in relief.

TAMIU closes out the series in San Angelo on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1pm.
