KINGSVILLE, Texas (April 18, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team took on Texas A&M Kingsville in an early week matchup on Tuesday night. The Dustdevils were dealt a 3-4 loss, moving to 10-25 overall.
The Javelinas would strike first, plating a run in the bottom of the first inning. TAMIU responded with a run in the top of the second inning, bringing the game even.
Sergio Pollorena came around to score after
Mario Ramirez grounded into a double play.
The teams would remain deadlocked through the fifth when TAMUK plated a pair of runs, taking a 3-1 lead.
Kingsville added a fourth run in the seventh, pushing the lead to three.
The Dustdevils would not go down without a fight in the ninth.
Jeremy Valadez pulled TAMIU within a two runs, plating
Adrian Castillo on an RBI double.
Sergio Pollorena would beat out a double play ball with one out, allowing Valadez to score TAMIU's third run. A late pitching change would allow the Javelinas to pick up the final out, dealing TAMIU a 3-4 loss.
Kyle Kieschnick took the mound for the Dustdevils, tossing four and two thirds innings. Kieschnick struck out a pair but was dealt the loss, moving to 1-3.
Jorge Gonzalez tossed the final three and a third on the mound for TAMIU. Gonzalez allowed just two hits, picking up three strikeouts.

TAMIU returns home to continue Heartland Conference play on Friday, April 21. The Dustdevils take on St. Edward's at Uni-trade Stadium. First pitch is set for 3pm, kicking off Military Appreciation Weekend.
