LAREDO, Texas (September 15, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 16, against Heartland Conference South Division foe Dallas Baptist. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas.
The Dustdevils (1-1-1, 0-1-0) will look to get back in the win column after dropping their Heartland Conference opener 1-0 to #23 St. Edward's in Austin on a Thursday afternoon. The Patriots (3-2-0, 0-1-0) also dropped their conference opener on Thursday, falling 3-1 to St. Mary's after entering the week with a three-match winning streak.

A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's match will be the 11
th match between the two schools and seventh in Dallas. The Dustdevils lead the all-time series 7-3-0 with five of those wins coming at Patriot Soccer Field. DBU won the last meeting, 1-0, on Oct. 27, 2016 breaking a six-match losing streak.
LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Chip Dutchik (17-24-3) is in his third season at the helm of Dallas Baptist men's soccer after spending the previous six years at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. In 2015, he led the Patriots to a National Christian College Athletic Association Regional Title and a trip to the National Tournament.
The Patriots enter the match with a 3-2-0 overall record and 0-1-0 in Heartland Conference play. DBU opened the conference campaign with a 3-1 defeat to St. Mary's on Thursday at Patriot Field allowing a goal for the first time in three matches.
After opening the season with a 1-0 defeat to Ouachita Baptist, DBU rolled off three straight outscoring opponents 6-0 victories including a commanding 2-0 win over Colorado State-Pueblo.
Sophomore Garrett Morgan and freshman Ethan Martinez are the top goal scorers for DBU this season with two goals. Morgan also leads the team in assists (2) and points (6) after starting in all 16 matches last season. Six other Patriots have contributed an assist for a grand total of eight.
Kody Korleski and Ryan Anderson have combined for an 859 minutes on the defensive side of the ball for the Patriots. The duo adds experience to a young DBU roster as they have 98 starts between them.
Tyler Hofmann has started every match for DBU in goal allowing four goals while making 16 saves. The 6-3 sophomore short-stopper ranks atop the conference with three shutouts while sitting fifth with a 0.80 goals against average.
DUSTDEVIL DEFENSE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
The Dustdevils rank at the top of the Heartland Conference in goals allowed tied with #8 Midwestern State. TAMIU have only allowed one goal and had gone more than 260 minutes without allowing a goal to star the season before SEU's Grant Mobley scored his second of the season on Thursday. The Dustdevils have used the experience of
Yair Hernandez and
Kevin Hernandez while the additions of
Carlos Herrera,
Luis Diaz and
Keanu Born have paid immediate dividends.
ISKANDER CONTINUES TO LEAD OFFENSE
Injuries have played a role in the Dustdevils slow offensive start this season but senior
Michael Iskander has been there to pick up the slack. The Kirckaldy, Scotland native leads the team in goals (1), points (2) and shots (9) after scoring his first career game-winner in TAMIU's season opening win over UC-Colorado Springs.
