MAGNOLIA, Arkansas (September 16, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team closed their 2017 tournament schedule with two losses at the Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational. TAMIU fell to Grambling State and Mississippi College on Saturday. The Dustdevils fall to 2-11 overall.
MATCH 1: TAMIU 0 - GS 3
TAMIU would face off against Grambling State to start the final day of play with a 9 a.m. match. It marked the first time the schools faced off against one another in program history.
Grambling State would take the first set 25-16, following it up with a second-set win with the same score.
Down 2-0, TAMIU would be unable to tame Grambling State as they fell 20-25.

MATCH 2: TAMIU 0 - MC 3
The Dustdevils would find another unfamiliar opponent in Mississippi College for the final match of the day. The 11 a.m. match marked the first time in program history that TAMIU would take on Mississippi College.
Mississippi College would take a 1-0 lead in the match after downing the Dustdevils 25-13.
TAMIU would fall down 0-2 after a 22-25 second-set loss.
Mississippi College would end TAMIU's day with a 25-15 win.
Despite the loss,
Ronnie Fountain would pick up her first double-double as a Dustdevil. Fountain recorded 26 assists and 14 digs.

The Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational ended TAMIU's regular season tournament schedule. The Dustdevils will open Heartland Conference action on Thursday, September 21 when they take on Dallas Baptist in Dallas, Texas.
