SAN ANTONIO, Texas (September 8, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University women's soccer team played a nuetral site match with Eastern New Mexico on Friday evening on the campus of St. Mary's University. The Dustdevils and Greyhounds played to a 2-2 tie, moving TAMIU's record to 1-1-1 overall.
TAMIU would pick up three shots in the first 30 minutes of action but
Monica Castro's shot on goal would be handled, preserving the tie.
In the 30th minute, ENMU would push a ball past
Aubrey Hall to put the Greyhounds up 1-0.
The Greyhounds would add a second goal just three minutes later on a loose ball in the box.
With :26 left in the first half,
Cio Bargallo worked around two defenders and the goalie to bury her sixth goal of the season, cutting the lead to one.
Valeria Macias played the ball into Bargallo at the top of the box, picking up an assist.
The Dustdevils put an end to nearly 50 minutes of playing from behind when a penalty kick was awarded in the 80th minute. A tackle in the box allowed Bargallo to step up and bury a shot into the lower right corner, bringing the game even with 10 minutes to play.
Neither team would get a quality look at the goal in the final ten minutes, leading to a golden-goal overtime. The Dustdevils held the Greyhounds at bay but could not find the back of the net, leading to a 2-2 draw.
