Box Score CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (January 20, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team took on Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma on Saturday. TAMIU fell 57-77, falling to 2-18 overall and 0-6 in Heartland Conference play.
AFTER 1: TAMIU 8 - RSU 15
The Hillcats and Dustdevils played a low scoring first quarter until the final three minutes where the Hillcats used the three ball to open a seven point lead on TAMIU through 10 minutes of action.
AT THE HALF: TAMIU 16 - RSU 35
The Dustdevils would struggle on the scoring end again in the second, putting up eight points for the second straight quarter. Rogers State was able to push their early lead to 19, putting up 20 points in the second quarter.
AFTER 3: TAMIU 35 - RSU 52
TAMIU came out of the break with a new offensive mindset, posting more points in the third quarter than the entire game to that point. The Dustdevils posted 19 points in the third quarter while holding RSU to 17, cutting into the early Hillcat lead.
FINAL: TAMIU 57 - RSU 77
Rogers State used a final push to put the Dustdevils away 57-77, scoring 25 points in the final 10 minutes of play. TAMIU posted their best offensive quarter in the fourth, scoring 22 points. The high offensive output would not be enough to cut into the early lead for TAMIU.
DUSTDEVIL LEADERS:
Passionate Amukamara and
Julia Hanni led the Dustdevils offensively, scoring a combined 27 points. Amukamara picked up 14 while Hanni added 13.
LaShae Rolle led the team in rebounds, grabbing nine boards in the loss.
UP NEXT:
The Dustdevils are off until Saturday, January 27 when TAMIU hosts St. Edward's University in the TAMIU KCB. Heartland Conference action is set to tip-off at 1pm. The first 300 fans in the door will receive a free t-shirt for the KCB Maroon Out.
