Dustdevils return home, host Hilltoppers in KCB

LAREDO, Texas (January 26, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team returns to the KCB on Saturday to host St. Edward's University. 

BACK IN THE BUILDING:
Saturday's matchup features the first home game since TAMIU hosted Newman on January 13. The Dustdevils are seeking their first win in the KCB since an 87-77 win over Huston-Tillotson on December 1. 

TAMIU enters the game after a week that saw the Dustdevils fall to Arkansas-Fort Smith and Rogers State University. The Dustdevils sit at 2-18 overall, posting an 0-6 mark in Heartland Conference action. 

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS:
The Hilltoppers enter play after dropping three of their last four games. SEU's most recent game featured a 52-59 loss to St. Mary's in San Antonio on January 24. SEU sits at 9-10 overall and posts a 3-4 Heartland Conference record. 

Through 19 games this season, SEU averages 56.9 points per game while allowing opponents to score 58.7 points per game. The Hilltopper shoot 36% from the field and 30.1% from behind the arc. 

Isabel Hernandez leads the Hilltoppers in scoring with 220 points this season while averaging 11.6 points per game. Hernandez is the only Hilltopper averaging double-digit points and leads the team in rebounds with Abby Hopper at 4.9 rebounds per game. 

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:
The Dustdevils and Hilltoppers face off for the first time since the 2017 Heartland Conference Basketball Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The teams faced off in quarterfinal action where TAMIU fell on March 2. Saturday marks the 28th all-time meeting between the Hilttoppers and Dustdevils. St. Edward's currently leads the series 16-11. 

THE DUSTDEVILS:
Tanatshea Giger continues to lead the Dustdevils in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. Giger also controls the glass, picking up 118 rebounds this season. Passionate Amukamara leads the team in steals with 38, averaging two steals per game. 

The Dustdevils are averaging 58.8 points per game this season while shooting 36.1% from the field and 24.7% from behind the arc. 

UP NEXT:
The Dustdevils have a week off after Saturday's game before hosting the nations #2 team in Lubbock Christian. Tip-off at the KCB is slated for Saturday, February 3 at 1pm.
