LUBBOCK, Texas -Â Texas A&M International (5-19, 3-7 HC) fell in straight set (21-25, 15-25, 17-25) to Lubbock Christian (18-7, 8-1 HC) on Thursday night.
The early goings in the opening set were contentious, but LCU managed to find their way out on top with an early 8-5 lead. While they never trailed again in the set, the Dustdevils kept it close pulling within two points multiple times. The Chaps eventually took the set 25-21.Â
In the beginning of the second set, it looked like the momentum might have switched sides as TAMIU opened on a 5-2 lead. Unfortunately, that lead would be short lived as LCU would rally to come back and take the advantage 8-7. They would extend their lead to 18-11 thanks to a 8-1 run. The Chaps closed out the set on a 7-3 run to take the 25-15 decision.
The third and final set was tightly contested for much of the early part of the set as both teams traded points back and forth. LCU broke out on a 10-1 run, taking a 20-10 lead and took the match with a 25-17 decision.
The Dustdevils will continue the road trip on Thursday, Nov. 1 as they travel to Austin, Texas to face off against St. Edward's.
