LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International (2-8, 1-7 HC) fell to St. Mary's (3-5-2, 2-5-1 HC) in a 2-1 decision on Saturday.
The Dustdevils wasted little time getting things going as Porscha Miseles-Huff scored the game's first goal on a header off a corner kick from Valeria Macias in the seventh minute.
The Rattlers would answer with an equalizer from Alexia Maldonado on a cross from Morgan Cave to tie things at 1-1 in the 11th minute.
Both teams had multiple attempts to break the stalemate, but neither could get a shot to fall for the remainder of the half.
For most of the second half, both teams kept up the heavy defensive effort. However, St. Mary's would end the tie on a shot form Victoria Villasenior from 30 yards out that found the top right corner of the net to go up 2-1.
TAMIU turned on the offensive pressure in the final minutes in an attempt to erase the deficit, but could not get a shot to fall.
The Dustdevils will continue the homestand on Thurs., Oct. 11 as they play host to Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m.
