TAMIU Falls To Regis 66-49

DENVER - Texas A&M International women's basketball (0-7) fell to Regis (3-1) in a 66-49 decision on Saturday.

Ashley Perez led the Dustdevils with 14 points as well as four steals, three assists and two rebounds. Tantashea Giger finished two rebounds shy of a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds, in addition to a block.

Both teams battled back and forth in the first quarter. While it was close, TAMIU led for most of the period, including their largest lead at 11-4 with less than four minutes left in the quarter. However, the Rangers battled back and took a 13-11 lead into the second quarter. 

The final 10 minutes of the half was all Rangers as they used their momentum from the end of the first quarter. They pushed out to their first double-digit lead at 21-11 just two minutes into the period, and eventually took a 41-25 lead into the intermission.

Regis continued to roll in the second half as they pushed out to their largest lead at 64-43 with 5:27 left in the game. They eventually took a 66-47 victory.

The Dustdevils will return home on Saturday, Dec. 1 as they host Huston-Tillotson at 2 p.m.
