SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M women's basketball (0-10) fell to Angelo State (6-1) in a 78-38 decision on Tuesday.
Vanessa Oyola led the Dustdevils with 12 points as well as three rebounds. Alliyah Bryant posted 10 points with four rebounds and two steals. Ciera Walker contributed eight points, seven rebounds and a steal.
The Belles dominanted the game from the start on both ends of the court, holding TAMIU to just 19 percent shooting. They opened the game on a 17-5 start in the first quarter and never looked back. However, the Dustdevils mananged to cut into the lead in the second quarter trimming the deficit to 11 points thanks to a fastbreak three-pointer from Oyola and later on a jumper in the paint from LaShae Rolle. ASU took a 38-15 lead into the half.
The Belles continued to roll in the second half, taking their first 30-point lead at 52-22 midway through the third quarter. They took their largest lead at 73-29 with five minutes left and took the victory with a 78-38 decision.
TAMIU returns home on Monday, Dec. 17 as they play host to Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m.
