WICHITA, Kansas (February 10, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team took on Newman University in Wichita on Saturday. TAMIU would fall 60-75, moving to 2-22 overall and 0-10 in Heartland action.
AFTER 1: TAMIU 9 - NEWMAN 21
The Dustdevils would get off to a slow start on Saturday. The Dustdevils were able to put up just nine points in the first quarter. Newman took advantage, putting up 21 points, taking a 12-point lead into the second quarter.
AT THE HALF: TAMIU 27 - NEWMAN 39
The Dustdevils would not be able to cut the lead in the second but did double their offensive output. TAMIU posted 18 points in the second quarter. Newman would match the Dustdevils 18, taking a 12-point lead into the half.
AFTER 3: TAMIU 45 - NEWMAN 54
TAMIU came out of the break hot, posting their second straight 18-point quarter. The Dustdevil defense cut the lead to single-digits, holding Newman to just 15 points.
FINAL: TAMIU 60 - NEWMAN 75
The Jets would take back their double-digit advantage in the final 10 minutes of play on Saturday. The Dustdevils were outscored 21-15 in the fourth, leading to a 60-75 loss for TAMIU.
STAT LEADERS:
LaShae Rolle finished the day with 10 rebounds and a team-high 11 points, picking up a double-double in the loss.
