LAREDO, Texas (February 17, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team concluded a three-game series with Houston-Victoria on Saturday. The Dustdevils would take game one 3-2 but fell 0-3 in game two. TAMIU moves to 1-5 this season.
GAME 1: TAMIU 3 - UHV 2
Ruben Solis would get the start in the second game of the series on Saturday. The Junior tossed seven complete innings, striking out five while allowing just one earned run.
Alex Cabezas led the Dustdevils at the plate, going 3-3 with a solo homerun.
HIGHLIGHTS:
The longball returns: Senior
Alex Cabezas picked up the first Dustdevil homerun this season on Saturday. Cabezas led off the bottom of the first inning. It was his first homerun this season.
Walk it off: Kobrey Garcia would drive in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single, scoring
Jorge Napoles. The RBI single would give TAMIU the first win of the 2018 season.
In control: While walks have plagued the Dustdevils early this season,
Ruben Solis picked up five strikeouts and allowed just two walks in seven innings on Saturday.
GAME 2: TAMIU 0 - UHV 3
Senior
Kyle Kieschnick got the nod in game two, starting his second game on the mound. After appearing for two innings in his first start, the Senior tossed five and a third innings, allowing two earned runs.
Abel Aguilar would lead TAMIU at the plate, picking up a 3-3 afternoon at the plate. Houston-Victoria would keep the Dustdevils off the scoreboard in a 0-3 loss.
HIGHLIGHTS:
The hits were there: Game two would see the Dustdevils outhit the Jaguars 6-4. The Dustdevils were unable to string hits together as UHV kept the Dustdevils scoreless throughout. TAMIU outhit the Jaguars in game one, picking up eight hits to UHV's five.
Spread out attack: TAMIU would fall victim to scattered runs from the Jaguars. UHV would pick up a run in the first inning, fourth inning, and a third in the seventh.

The Dustdevils will play the Jaguars in their next series, making it five straight against UHV. TAMIU will travel to Victoria, Texas for a Wednesday doubleheader on Wednesday, February 21.
