SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 24, 2018) – The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team closed out the 2017-18 regular season on the road Saturday. The Dustdevils fell to St. Mary's University, finishing 3-25 overall and 1-13 in Heartland Conference play.
AFTER 1: TAMIU 10 – STMU 18
The Dustdevils and Rattler would combine to score 28 points in the first 10 minutes of action on Saturday. It would be the Dustdevils who came out on the short end of the first quarter scoring. Despite starting hot, the Dustdevils couldn't keep St. Mary's from pushing the lead to eight before the buzzer sounded.
AT THE HALF: TAMIU 28 – STMU 34
The Dustdevils would rebound and put themselves back into the game with a second quarter that saw TAMIU match StMU's first quarter 18. TAMIU would hold the Rattlers to 16, cutting the deficit to six at the half.
AFTER 3: TAMIU 41 – STMU 51
The Rattlers would take their largest lead of the afternoon in the third quarter of play. StMU would put up 17 points while holding the Dustdevils to 13. After 30 minutes of action, TAMIU trailed by 10.
FINAL: TAMIU 64 – STMU 71
The Dustdevils would post a game high 23 points in the final 10 minutes of play. StMU was able to put up 20 but the Dustdevils trimmed the lead to seven before the final buzzer sounded.

THE ROAD TO TULSA:
The Dustdevils now look forward to postseason basketball. TAMIU will play their next game in the first round of the Heartland Conference Tournament, held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Heartland Conference Basketball Tournament begins on Thursday, March 1.
