Dustdevils fall to Eagles 72-87 in Edmond

Box Score EDMOND, Oklahoma (February 8, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team opened a two-game road swing in Edmond on Thursday. The Dustdevils fell to Oklahoma Christian 72-87, moving to 2-21 overall and 1-9 in Heartland Conference play. 

AFTER 1: TAMIU 20 - OC 22
The Eagles and Dustdevils would combine for 42 points in the first 10 minutes of action on Thursday. The Dustdevils opened the game with a 20 point effort in the first quarter. The Eagles would match TAMIU's effort on offense, putting up 22 points, taking a two-point advantage into the second quarter. 

AT THE HALF: TAMIU 33 - OC 39
The Dustdevils would cool down in the second quarter, putting up 13 points before the half. TAMIU's defense would handle the OC offense as well, holding the Eagles to 17 in the second. The defensive effort kept the Dustdevils within 10 points at the half as TAMIU trailed 33-39. 

AFTER 3: TAMIU 47 - OC 63
The third quarter would prove detrimental to the Dustdevil effort as the Eagles put up 24 points out of the break. The Dustdevils would manage 14 points in the quarter but would fall behind by 16 after 30 minutes of action. 

FINAL: TAMIU 72 - OC 87
Just as the teams opened the game, both the Eagles and Dustdevils would pick up their best offensive outputs in the final 10 minutes of action. TAMIU poured in a game-high 25 points in the final quarter. The Eagles would tie their third quarter 24, allowing TAMIU to end the game with a 15 point deficit. 

THE SERIES:
With the loss to Oklahoma Christian, TAMIU moves to 0-2 against Oklahoma Christian this season. 

STAT LEADERS:
Passionate Amukamara would be the only Dustdevil to post double-digit points in the loss. Amukamara put up 18 points, second only to OC's leading scorer who put up 22. Tantashea Giger led the rebound battle for TAMIU, picking up 11. 

UP NEXT:
The Dustdevils next matchup comes on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas. TAMIU will take on Newman University at 1 p.m. before returning home for Spirit Week.
