WICHITA, Kansas (April 18, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team is set to open a four-game Heartland Conference series with Newman University on Thursday. Impending weather forced the series to be moved up to Thursday/Friday.

A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES:
The Jets and Dustdevils have faced off 51 times prior to Thursday's series opener. The series sits at 20-31 in favor of the Jets with Newman taking three games last season.
SCOUTING THE JETS:
Newman enters play at 14-24 with a 6-10 mark in the Heartland Conference. The Jets split a Heartland Conference series with Oklahoma Christian last weekend in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Ked Bailey leads the Jets at the plate, batting .387 on the season while batting .364 in Heartland games. Bailey has driven in 11 runs this season. Brian Canfield is the other Jet standout, hitting .353 on the season and .375 in Heartland play. Canfield has five home runs this season and a team-high 32 RBI.
Blake Thunberg and Wade Winter picked up wins for the Jets in their last series. Winter tossed three and two-thirds innings in a game two win. Thunberg Went six innings on the bump, striking out three in a game four win. Zack Erdman leads the team in wins with four this season. Erdman has an ERA of 5.10 and 4.68 in conference play. Roger Wilson leads the Jets with 42 strikeouts on the season.
LOOKING AT THE DUSTDEVILS:
The Dustdevils enter play after falling to Lubbock Christian in a wind-blown series at Lubbock last weekend. The Dustdevils sit at 12-25 overall with a 4-12 mark in the Heartland Conference.
Mario Ramirez and
Jorge Napoles lead the Dustdevils in batting average, both posting averages over .320 this season. Ramirez posts a team-high .325 with 27 hits and Napoles is hitting .322 with 29 hits and 11 RBI.
Ricky Gonzalez leads the Dustdevils in RBI this season, driving home 19 runs in 34 games.
Four Dustdevil Pitchers have picked up two wins on the season in
Eleazar Rojas,
Justin Diaz,
Mauro Luna, and
Hugo Mendiola. Rojas has set down 45 via the punchout while Mendiola has recorded 34 strikeouts this season.
Mark Trimble leads the team in relief appearances, coming into the game on 16 different occasions.
Coleman Butler follows Trimble with 15 appearances this season.

The Dustdevils return to Laredo for their final home series of the 2018 season following the Newman series. TAMIU will host St. Mary's in a four-game series beginning April 27.
