LAREDO, Texas (April 27, 2018) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team opened a four-game series with St. Mary's University on Friday at Jorge Haynes Field. TAMIU fell 0-5 and 0-11, moving to 12-31 overall and 4-18 in Heartland Conference play.
GAME 1: TAMIU 0 - StMU 5
Kyle Kieschnick would get the nod in game one, tossing five and two-thirds innings on the mound. The Senior struck out a pair despite the loss.
Nick Montemayor relieved Kieschnick, tossing a scoreless inning and a third, striking out two.
St. Mary's would get on the board first with three runs in the second, before scoring a run in the fourth and sixth.
Mathew Trevino and
Adrian Castillo would each pick up a hit in the loss.
GAME 2: TAMIU 0 - StMU 11
Hugo Mendiola would start game two for the Dustdevils, tossing four innings while striking out three.
Jorge Coronado tossed an inning of relief before
Justin Diaz tossed the final two frames.
Coronado made his Dustdevil and collegiate debut on the mound on Friday. Coronado recorded his first career strikeout on a four pitch at-bat.
St. Mary's used runs in each of the seven innings, minus the third en-route to the win while the Dustdevils tallied seven hits.
Kobrey Garcia recorded a pair of hits in the game.

The Dustdevils close out the four-game set on Saturday at Uni-trade Stadium. Eight Dustdevil seniors will be honored prior to the game. Saturday's game marks the annual Building Homes for Heroes Baseball BBQ and Car Show. Fans will be treated to a wealth of activities around the ballpark, a $7 Brisket Combo Plate Sale, and a free raffle. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. with Senior Day festivities beginning at 11:40 a.m. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
