Dustdevils Drop Heartland Opener 2-1 To St. Edward’s

LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International (1-2-1, 0-1 HC) couldn't complete the comeback against St. Edward's (2-2-0, 1-0 HC) as they fell 2-1 in the Heartland Conference opener on Thursday night.

After a scoreless first half, SEU finally broke the seal as a corner kick from Dylan Armstrong found Isaac Zausch, who buried it in the back of the net to go up 1-0 in the 61st minute. SEU scored again just three minutes later, this time from Armstrong on an assist from Parker Fyfe.

TAMIU was not going down without a fight however, as in the 69th minute Rodrigo Zuniga found the back of the net on a pass from Elias Perales to cut the lead to 2-1. The Dustdevils couldn't complete the comeback as SEU's keeper William Tuffin saved three of TAMIU's final shots on goal.

The Dustdevils continue the Heartland Conference slate on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. as they play host to Dallas Baptist.
